Why it makes sense to censor Facebook,twitter....

Anna Hazare's message - "Do not vote for Congress party as they have not yet showing any signs of passing the Jan Lok Pal bill anytime soon nor have they lended letter of support".This message was circulated on many social networking websites which generated anti-congress feelings among the voters.Poll experts  say that the poor chap did not had any chance of winning and loss was pre-destined but Anna's message killed the prospect of a healthy democratic poll in the area.

What if this congress candidate in sharp contrast  to his party's image might have been an honest person???Many of us(that includes me) have immense faith in Anna Hazare and this blind faith often affects our  perception between right or wrong. In the present times.Social networking sites play a big role in making or breaking the image of any person, party, community or even a country.Congress Goverment,Sonia Gandhi, Narendra Modi, Sania Mirza, Manmohan Singh ,Prophet,Pope,Hindu Gods/Godesses are some prominent figures whom people love to comment, criticize, hate or discuss about.

Every day we find fake or doctored pictures, cartoons, distorted facts being posted on Facebook Anti social elements have now got a new platform in the form of social networks. For their own pleasure  they post indecent material thereby arousing hatred against a particular person, community or religion. Their primary target are Ignorant people, of them many are teenagers who are easy to influence and misguide.

Often many of us having incomplete information about the topic  "like","comment" and express our opinions. Most of the times we read what others have written and go with the flow of Majority. On social networks the identity of person can be faked and wrong information or inappropriate material can freely circulate among millions of users. This is where the question of accountability arises!!!!!

In contrast to social networking sites and other Internet sources the Newspapers such as Hindu,Indian express and T.V news channels like NDTV ,Times Now print and  broadcast news that are based on research and facts as they are under constant vigilance of Information and broadcasting commision of India.

You all might agree with me that social networks are the ideal platform to express our views ,share information and at the same time socialize. Because of this they have now become the most powerful tool in the hands of those who are using them for their own vested interests.Instead of banning the content on sites there should be a greater stress on accountability.

Sure facebook gives us the option of removing or blocking  unethical content(comments, pages, pictures etc) but somewhere it has to draw a line on the inclusion of content which is against National Interest, maligns the image of a person based on false reports. If it fails to do so on its own it is justified on part of the  Goverment to set  up a regulatory body for censoring the contents on facebook and other mediums on the Internet.
Mr.Kapil Sibal even though I support your views on censorship on Fb,google etc still i am puzzled as to why did you raise your opposition only when Sonia Gandhi's reputation was at stake?? What took you so long to realize there was a need of censorship?? Has only one family (read Gandhi family) has been offended by offensive contents on Fb?? What about the countless others whose privacy is invaded by hackers and anti-social elements every day?? Now to end this boring blog I'l use comment which I read recently "noise is measured in decibel . . . non-sense is measured in The-"Sibal" :P :P !!So come on Mr.Sibal Censor this blog too :)
